How much is QuayPad to buy?
Due to the limitless possibilities for fitting out the quaypad we can only quote based on actual requirements. Please contact us to tell us your needs and we will come back to you with a free quotation.
Where can I berth QuayPad?
You can berth QuayPad in marinas, inland waterways, rivers, lakes etc. You obviously need permission from the owner of the water - usually by way of a berthing contract.
How much does it cost to berth QuayPad?
Berthing rates are usually calculated based on the length of the vessel (in the case of QuayPad this is 9m). Please ask your marina or other water owner for a price based on this length.
Are business rates payable on QuayPad?
In the United Kingdom business rates are not normally be payable on a vessel such as QuayPad. Please contact your local authority if you are in doubt.
Does it come with a toilet?
The standard floating office specification does not include a toilet (marinas have toilet facilities for their berth holders).
However a marine toilet can easily be incorporated into the design for those who would like private facilities (or who are in a location where toilet facilities are not provided). The type of toilet will depend on whether you have access to the mains water and sewerage systems or not. If you do not then an excellent alternative is one of the new range of marine composting toilets. These are modern systems designed for marine environments and are very eco-friendly.
Can the toilet incorporate a shower?
Yes - the design we have is for a "wet room" incorporating a shower, basin and toilet.
Can the unit be adapted for living accommodation?
The seating area can have a folding bed incorporated into it. We can also add a full-length roller blind to the main window for privacy. However we designed QuayPad with only "occasional overnight stays" in mind. We may develop a purpose-built "live-aboard" version in the future.
If I live in them do I have to pay council tax (United Kingdom)?
Probably! Please contact your local authority to confirm their current policy on live-aboards.
Can I have a bigger kitchen with a proper cooker?
Any appliances designed for marine use can be used on QuayPad. We can also alter the configuration of the cupboards and kitchenette area to increase the kitchen area.
Can it have air conditioning?
Air conditioning is available as an optional extra.
Does the unit have to be in sheltered water?
QuayPad was designed to be berthed in marinas and inland waterways - both of which are typically sheltered. We wouldn't recommend exposing QuayPad to extreme offshore winds, for example, as it was not intended for that purpose.
How stable is it?
During the design stage our naval architect did numerous stability calculations to ensure that the vessel didn't move too much in the water. The hull is ballasted (weighted) to make the centre of gravity low. Furthermore, in most marinas, there is already a degree of protection from extreme weather.
Can I moor in shallow water?
The draft (depth below the water line) of the unit is about 0.5m - so quite shallow water is perfectly fine. The bottom also has runners incorporated into the design which means that, where necessary, it can sit on the ground (e.g. in tidal areas).
Can I have decking on the upper deck?
Teak-effect flooring is available as an optional extra for the entrance way, stairs and upper deck.
Can the wind turbine & solar panels power the whole unit?
We can supply a fully self-contained electrical system as an optional extra where mains power is not available.
Can you make a bigger one?
Yes - we can make a longer version if required. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
Can you join them together? If so, longways or sideways?
We would be able to design a "tunnel" to connect two units sideways. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
Can they have side entrances?
We can put an entrance door in the side (the toilet/shower unit version has a side door).
What colours can I have?
You can choose from around 200 different colours (based on the RAL system).
